Brookestone of Papillion Shares Learning Opportunities with Local Students through Cooperation BEST

At Brookestone of Papillion we believe in the significance of strengthening relationships and community involvement. By teaming up with Cooperation BEST Brookestone of Papillion employees and residents were given the opportunity to do just that.

Cooperation BEST is the Papillion La Vista School District’s business partnership program. Through the program students are encouraged to interact with local businesses through activities such as presentations, career exploration, field trips, and practical application experiences.

Over the last year Brookestone of Papillion has had the chance to facilitate student learning both in our facility and in the classroom. On more than one occasion local High Ability Learner (HAL) students visited with Brookestone of Papillion residents about experiences they went through. It was remarkable to listen to the conversations about the differences in their families’ daily activities, plans after high school, technology, and the events that took place throughout their lifetimes. Undoubtedly, our residents enjoyed this time with local students just as much as the students enjoyed mingling with residents.

On Thursday November 19th, People Development Coordinator, Amy Brown, and Public Relations Coordinator, Jenny Janovich spent the morning carrying out mock interviews with business economic students at Papillion La- Vista High School. The students arrived dressed in business professional wear and many had even prepared a resume.

“I’m very proud of the students we interviewed because by taking the time in high school to gain the skills to be confident in an interview at a young age they will be leaps and bounds ahead of those who don’t take the time,” Amy Brown stated. “As Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘The future depends on what you do today’.  Investing your time wisely will lead to great success!”
